During his youth in South Carolina, Shepard Fairey was interested in art and skateboarding, so his first mediums were T-shirts and skateboards. Shortly thereafter, he amazed the skateboarding community with homemade stickers that he stuck everywhere. He paid homage to his other passion, punk music, with stencils. Shepard graduated from the Idyllwild Arts Academy in Palm Springs, California, and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island.

Shepard Fairey’s art is a blend of graffiti, pop art, and commercial art. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world. His most famous work is the iconic and inspirational portrait of Barack Obama. The poster was used to support Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
