Herakut

Herakut - these are the two artists Hera and Akut, who merged their names and styles in 2004. The common goal was and is to beautify the dark places of a city and - following a humanitarian approach - to set positive signs of life and thought.

Hera, also known as Jasmin Siddiqui, who was born and raised in Frankfurt am Main, takes on the role of graffiti artist, while Falk Lehmann from Schmalkden, also known as Akut and founder of the legendary Ma’Claim Crew, devotes himself to conceptualisation, drawing and text work. Akut began his career as a graffiti artist in 1991. He and the rest of the Ma’Claim Crew specialised in photorealistic graffiti and created countless murals all over the world, a tradition to which Herakut has remained true for the past 10 years.

Herakut approaches art in a humanitarian way. For the duo, art is communication. If its potential is utilised correctly, it can have a strong impact on society. More than half of Herakut’s work is dedicated to charitable causes. They are particularly committed to helping children in need, supporting a home for abused children in Frankfurt, a Syrian refugee camp in the Jordanian desert, a home for Palestinian refugees in Bethlehem, the ‘Bayernkaserne’ asylum home in Munich and teenagers on a drug rehab programme in Miami. All the experiences that Herakut gather in their support become inspiration for their works.
