Claudio Rafael
Brazilian artist Claudio Rafael, better known as Claudio Ethos, creates large-scale, surreal murals with a starkly reduced color palette. Ethos often depicts thoughtful and anxious figures in urban settings. His characters reflect emotional and spiritual states.
Claudio Ethos was born in Sao Paulo in 1982. Surrounded by Sao Paulo’s „Pichacao“ tag style, his interest in graffiti grew in the 1990s. At the age of 15, he began spraying and sketching with ballpoint pen in books and on canvases. After two years of fine arts college, he decided to leave school and simply work as an artist. He wants to „depict emotional and spiritual states because there are no exact definitions for many of these sensations.“ Ethos‘ artwork can be found on the streets of the world, and he has participated in several solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe.
