During his photography-education in Scotland in the early 2000’s, Niehaus started documenting the lifestyle of Edinburgh’s underground-squatter scene in his free time in early photographic works.
After his move back to Berlin, he has been one of the first to document the contemporary street art scene, both in Berlin and worldwide.
His pictures give an account of the freedom that can be found in urban art. In a constant search for meaningfulness in his photographs, Niehaus has been documenting the war zones of Syria and Iraq since 2012.
