Alex Diamond

“Alex Diamond” was created by the artist Jörg Heikhaus as a conceptual and experimental art project in 2004. Although its original purpose was completed with the release of the book ``Don’t Worry 'Bout a Thing: Being Alex Diamond`` (2009) and the accompanying exhibitions in Hamburg and Barcelona many years ago, Alex Diamond has since become Jörg's alias.

Renowned for skillfully employing a diverse range of techniques and crafts, the bulk of his portfolio now revolves around his signature woodwork: intricately layered, meticulously detailed sculptural woodcuts, infused with various painting and pigmentation styles.

About the art

As a conceptual and content-driven artist, he primarily sees himself as a storyteller. The center of his work is the analysis and interpretation of contemporary culture and its recurring distinctive patterns. His artistic focus is the study of the social and cultural aspects of human coexistence.

A political and social unease can always be felt in the work of Alex Diamond. As an artist, he embraces the responsibility of addressing pressing issues of our time through his unique voice.. A great anger can be felt, but also hope and encouragement to change. Yet, this depth of substance is not immediately apparent in the aesthetic foreground of his pieces. Instead, it unfolds like a well-composed song, engaging with melody and rhythm, harmony and discord, text and voice.
